Born in West Yorkshire in 1980, Richard Knox is an artist and musician, living and working in Glossop, Derbyshire.

He founded the independent record label Gizeh Records in 2003 and has made music and toured extensively across Europe since then under many guises, including his primary project A-Sun Amissa as well as Shield Patterns and Glissando. Through the label, Richard has built relationships and networks with artists and musicians across the world and the label recently released its 100th record.

Formed in 2011, A-Sun Amissa have been exploring the edges of some kind of avant-rock ever since. The quest to keep delving deep into new voids sees the project moving in and around a diverse chasm of melancholic drone, post-rock, doom and ambient sounds.

His artistic practice focuses predominantly on abstract monoprinting, often using an instinctive, expressive mixed-media approach that leans on a gestural technique to create textured pieces that appear both stark and detailed in equal measures.

Richard’s work has featured on numerous album sleeves and gig posters over the years.

In 2021 Richard co-founded KIN.DER, a screen printing and creative studio that he currently runs and works from in Glossop.
